Bermondsey Spa Site A is the first of many redevelopment sites, on part of the Bermondsey regeneration plan by Southwark Council.

It is a winning competition entry by Hyde Housing, which Whitecode Design Associates were responsible for detailed building services design, including the underground drainage, for this scheme. Site A includes 73 homes, a large health centre, a podiatry clinic and two separate shop units.

Originally conceived in 2001, this site had extremely high energy performance and therefore exceeded the building regulations at the time, it achieved an energy performance rating of EcoHomes ‘Very Good’.

The site is served via a district heating system with ultra high efficiency low NOx boilers, Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP), which also provided a proportion of the site electricity needs.
