Whitecode Consulting’s specialist MEP expertise called for on major London project
A brand-new housing development in Lombard Square, London, required a Sales and Marketing Suite that reflected the style, elegance and aesthetic beauty of the apartments it would be promoting. With that in mind, the mechanical contractor, Briar Mechanical, and the developer, Berkeley Homes, turned to the MEP design consultancy specialists at Whitecode Consulting.
Having worked with Whitecode Consulting on the Lombard Square residential blocks, Briar Mechanical contracted the MEP design consultants knowing the comprehensive requirements, tight budget and deadline demands and need for full coordination would be handled decisively, quickly and efficiently.
While the quality of the apartments was encouragement enough for potential residents and owners to register interest or place deposits, having a fully equipped and stylish Sales and Marketing Suite would provide the crucial final step in completing the sale and keeping both developer and homeowner happy. Consequently, Whitecode Consulting were required to provide a fully coordinated design from early on in the process to ensure the tight deadline was met.
Working closely with the project team, contractors and CDP designers, Whitecode Consulting provided full concept designs at RIBA Stage Two before coordinating all the various components at RIBA Stage Three, preparing the extensive technical designs to ensure building regulations were met at RIBA Stage Four and overseeing the construction to ensure compliance to the quality and design standards at RIBA Stage Five. Whitecode Consulting was then involved in the handover at RIBA Stage Six.
Mikolaj Ogorek, Building Services Engineer at Whitecode Consulting revealed the close collaboration between all parties had led to successful delivery of the project, with the tight deadline being achieved on time and Berkeley already utilising the new Sales and Marketing Suite to sell the stylish and modern apartments.
Mikolaj said: “With the project having a tight deadline because Berkeley needed the suite open to start selling its apartments, the cohesion between ourselves, the contractor and the CDP designers was crucial. Working closely with all members of the project, we developed all mechanical, electrical and public health designs utilising AutoCAD to an installation standard.”
“To ensure we met all of Berkeley Homes’ marketing requirements, we also worked hand-in-hand with architects, Studio NR, to coordinate all complex commercial unit designs. The new marketing suite has proven to be a success, and we take great pride in the important role we played in its design and construction.”
With developer Berkeley Homes focusing heavily on sustainability in its responsible business strategy, the provision of green space was paramount – reflected in the central Garden Square in the heart of Lombard Square. The largest green space on-site and featuring play opportunities for children, a stunning lake and large lawn, it was designed with the local community in mind and thoughtfully crafted to accommodate community events and gatherings.
Situated on one side of the Garden Square, the Sales and Marketing Suite therefore had to reflect the picturesque appearance of the green space while utilising energy efficient and smart technology and maximising the sales opportunities for the developer.
Incorporating several different aesthetic styles, a myriad of sustainable lighting systems and a plethora of energy efficient audio/visual units, the Sales and Marketing Suite required comprehensive MEP design expertise; for which Whitecode Consulting was the first choice.
Highlighting the importance of the Sales and Marketing Suite opening as quickly as possible, Berkeley have sold several apartments since its launch in April 2025.
