Alex Hill to join panel of experts at elementalLondon

Taking place at 11am on Wednesday 25^th November 2026 in the Climate Solutions Theatre, the panel discussion entitled ‘Solar, heat pumps and batteries: The opportunities and challenges’ will shine a critical spotlight on the ‘golden triangle’ of solar, heat pumps and battery storage. Alex will sit alongside Megan Hulme, Head of Policy at Sustainable Energy Association, Nigel Banks, Technical Director at Octopus Energy, and Stephanie Holmes, Policy Executive at Energy UK.

As an advocate for specifying new heating technology to help meet the UK’s net zero targets, Alex’s participation on the panel will let him raise awareness of its impact on building and MEP design.

Alex said: “Adopting a combination of heat pumps, battery storage, and solar panels offers building owners substantial cost-saving and energy-efficiency benefits. Together, these technologies can cut energy expenditure, reduce environmental footprint, and deliver long-term energy independence.

“However, there are significant barriers and hurdles – not least of which is the likely further strain on the National Grid as a result of the increased electricity demand. Furthermore, many developers apply solar panels to new builds without incorporating battery storage. This can prevent these properties from generating free energy, meaning the industry must do more to raise awareness of the importance of correct specification.

“Taking part in such a discussion will really help to highlight both the substantial opportunities and challenges low-carbon heating presents and examine why adoption remains low. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there.”

Alongside this in-depth panel discussion, the elementalLondon event, running on Wednesday 25^th and Thursday 26^th November, will feature a range of informative technical briefings and provide essential networking opportunities, with many of the built environment’s leaders and decision-makers expected among the 25,000+ attendees.
